frank hobson ragapple lassieHello folks:
If you were inadvertently left off Chelsea Clinton’s wedding  guest list, don’t despair.  Just come visit RagApple Lassie, sample great wines, and savor the smooth jazz sounds of Bill Mann emanating from his tenor, alto or soprano saxophones.  ZinSational Zen has been added to the tasting bar wines along with the newest Merlot!

FYI: It seems we all missed the RagApple Lassie debut on Fox News.  The news story that was filmed here in late April was aired – for the first time – last Wednesday. According to Fox, other airings will come but we don’t know when.  Fox News wanted a story about the demise of textiles and tobacco in North Carolina and the rise of the wine industry.  So, viola!  They found it all here at RagApple Lassie.  As most of you know, the Hobson Farm was primarily a tobacco farm that hung its future on grapes and winemaking once the demise of tobacco began.  And, Steven McHone, the assistant wine maker, here at RagApple Lassie was a textile worker for 15 years before losing his job to offshore plants, went to Surry Community College to retrain, chose to study viticulture and enology and is now a part of the RagApple Lassie family!  So, Fox News tied all these aspects into a story chronicling the ebb and flow of life in North Carolina!

Dates for your calendar:
The new wine cocktail:  Titilatte will be debuted on August 14th.
The fourth Yadkin River Wine Trail Mini-Festival will be on August 15th at Flint Hill Vineyards!

Rainbows and joy,
Lenna and Frank

ragapple lassie vineyardsThis past Saturday, RagApple Lassie proudly provided the ‘location‘ for the ninth couple to become engaged at RagApple Lassie! The happy couple is from Milwaukee, WI and was here to reconnect with six other special friends that had not seen each other for two years!

This Saturday, July 24th, Andy Coats makes his debut as a RagApple Lassie musician; so, come enjoy a voice that’s rich, dark, and  mellifluous, paired with smooth guitar picking and a blues feel that is close to perfect, plus sample great wine and relax in the welcome cool of the winery.  Noon to Six!

FYI, Baseball update:  all three grandsons have finished their post season play as All Star players on various teams.  Tanner’s team was playing in Morganton, where Tanner hit THREE home runs in one game and still lost!!!  Reid, playing in Pinehurst, made a flying leap for a crucial fly ball, landed on his nose, BUT caught the ball!! Jack, the youngest and smallest, played in Lenoir, and alternates between short stop and pitching!!!

The Windsor Jeweler – RagApple Lassie Vineyards benefit for UYV Habitat for Humanity on Sunday was a great success.  The jewels were magnificent, and the winners of the drawing for two pieces of designer jewelry, a case of wine and an overnight in Hobson House were all ecstatic.  If you missed it, we missed you!  But, there is always next year!

Rainbows and joy,
Lenna and Frank
