This past weekend here at the winery was especially joyful because many friends that we’ve met over the years came visiting. Some came to restock their wine supply, some brought friends to meet us and some brought their new little ones to meet us! We love being the ‘grapeparents’ as one new Dad named us, to a growing cadre of  RagApple Lassie little ones!

Weatherwise, if you think I am beginning to sound redundant, you are correct! One day it is very nice – 60 degrees nice!  The next day, the high is 35, or less,  and the forecast for Wednesday is SNOW.  And, this is just the first three days this week!!!  But don’t despair, ‘normal’ January weather will be back by the weekend, so you can come visiting!

And speaking of weekends, remember this coming weekend is the first weekend of the Annual Yadkin County Winter Reds Event which is held the last weekend in January and the last weekend in February. And a few tickets are still available. Plus, this year, Friday Night Wine Dinners at Sanders Ridge have been added. Winston-Salem Chef Christian Froelich will prepare a six course dinner showcasing one wine from each of the six wineries in this weekend’s event.  Tickets are $65.00 per person and are by reservation only.  Tickets for both the Wine Dinner and the Winter Reds Tour are available from the Yadkin County Chamber of Commerce office or online at www.visityadkin.com.

FYI:  RagApple Lassie will be a part of the February weekend events.

FYI:  The traditional RagApple Lassie Valentine Wine Lunches will be available by reservation on Saturday, February 15th and Sunday, February 16th. The Menus will be ready for your consideration next week!  Stay Tuned!

Holy  Cow!  This week has been WILD and WILDLY unique.

We spent days getting ready for the Big Freeze, then Freezing,  then cleaning up from the Big Freeze and now we must prepare for the Great Flood! Although it is as yet unannounced, I am  sure it is only a matter of time!!!!  What was defined as ‘scattered showers’ became two days and nights of heavy, heavy rain! And as daunting as it sounds I am sure that centuries from now,  when our descendents are reading about our planets’ ever evolving history,  they will discover that a major weather shift began  near the beginning of the 21st century!!!!   And speaking of weather shifts, remember that the Mississippi River did not exist until after the Ice Age!!! And it is theorized that the Clovis Point in Lenna’s pendant found its way to Yadkin County BEFORE the Mississippi River was born from melting ice!!!

Calendar information for your consideration includes the Annual Yadkin County Winter Reds for the last weekend in January and February.  As you will recall half of the Yadkin County wineries welcome you in January and the other half in February. And this year, Friday Night Wine Dinners at Sanders Ridge have been added.  Winston-Salem Chef Christian Froelich                                will prepare a six course dinner showcasing one wine from each of the six wineries.  Tickets are $65.00 per person and are by reservation only.  Tickets for both the  Wine Dinner and the Winter Reds Tour are available from the Yadkin County Chamber of Commerce office or online at http://www.visityadkin.com. FYI:  RagApple Lassie will be a part of the February weekend events.

And please don’t forget to share your opinion with us.  Go to  RagApple Lassie’s Facebook page, click on the ‘poll’ button and give us your opinion on just two questions!. What you think is important to us and we want to remain one of your favorite wineries! And while on Facebook, take note of the “Udderly” Enticing Deals being offered throughout the months of January and February.

We shall look forward to reading your opinions and to  seeing you soon!

Rainbows and joy!

As I write, the Weatherman telling us to expect the temperature of the
next couple of days to be colder than at any time in the last two DECADES!!!

So it appears we will be very COLD! But remember, this cold will not only eliminate any Pierce’s Disease (which is the scourge of vineyards) but will help reduce, if not eliminate, the shield-shaped stink bugs and ladybug-like Kudzoo bugs that bugged us immensely last summer!! As my father always said “there is a little bit of good in everything and everyone”!

On the news front, RagApple Lassie is preparing to bottle wine shortly so all of our wine varieties will be back soon! As many of you will recall, we were unable to get our famous sexy-shaped wine bottles from Milan during the economic downturn but things have improved on the European front and we can happily report that the bottles for our upcoming bottling are ‘on the water’ and are expected to land in the next ten days!! As you can imagine, bottling requires much ‘T’ capping and ‘I’ dotting plus coordinating dozens of details and rethinking many past decisions. Hence, we would like your help. You are our reason for being and your opinion matters. So please, go to our facebook page, click on “POLL” and answer a couple of questions that we are currently considering!

And don’t forget the “Udderly” enticing Winter Doldrums Weekly deals also on Facebook. So now you have two reasons to check out our Facebook page!!

Stay warm, be well plus rainbows and joy!
